W7DK AT THE BEACH PICNIC
PHOTO PAGE

Radio Club of Tacoma hosts an annual picnic at Point Defiance Park's Owens Beach every June. Part of the socializing is a contest called "Antenna Wars".  The contestants build an antenna, usually for 2 meters, and whoever receives the highest signal strength from a far away repeater is the winner.

These photos are from June of 2003.  The 2004 photos are somewhere in the Web-Geek's PC and will be included on this page soon.

Assembly of Mike's Bamboo Yagi.

It's Ray KD7MVG readying his collinear. Randy KD7TRA makes final adjustments on his Yagi. Rich AE7RW looks on.

Rich, AE7RW, aims his "Woodshop Quad" - built with a Jet tablesaw.

Randy, KD7TRA, aims his Quad. The bright glow in the center of the antenna is NOT electrical flashover. It appears to be camera lense flare.

Grand Prize Winner from 2004 contest: Sean Sage, KD7ZOX. (Web Geek apologizes for B&W... still looking for photos)
