WG7X, AC7QN, KK7QW, and KE7EMV set up the fiberglass poles that support the 20 meter vertical Moxon antenna

Final touches on Moxon antenna. The building in the background is the picnic shelter where the two stations operated.
Behind the shelter is a bluff. The 20/40 meter fan dipole was located 200 ft up the bluff to prevent inter-station interference when both transmitters were operating on 20 meters.  AC7QN and WG7X are in the foto.

KR7W operates the 20/40 meter CW station.  The lowest temp at this site was recorded as 34 degrees just after set up. Shortly after 11 AM PST or so... a breeze came in from the north... right off of Commencement Bay.  This cooled the operators down considerably.  Hats and mittens were donned at to prevent FYBO.  Lesson learned from last year:  It is best to use a Straight Key when it is cold enough to need gloves.  Here a very small Russian Army SK is used.

Alan W7AML sat right down and started making contacts. The other operators, who were unsuccessful, were amazed.
CW operator, Rich KR7W, is freezing in the background.  Rich is wearing some big Sony broadcaster headphones under his made in Nepal toque.  559 WA RICK 34F BK

Gary WG7X listens intently for his turn to call.
