AMATEUR RADIO LICENSE EXAMS The Radio Club of Tacoma has an ARRL affiliated team of Volunteer Examiners which offers testing for Amateur Radio Licenses on a regular basis. |

Amateur Radio Element 1 (Morse Code), Element 2
(Technician Class), Element 3 (General Class), and Element 4 (Extra
Class) testing
commences on the second Tuesday
of each month at the Radio Club of Tacoma Clubhouse located at
1249 S Washington in Tacoma, Washington.

FCC HAS ELIMINATED MORSE CODE TESTING as of 2/23/07
Testing begins at 7:00 PM. Please arrive early. No appointment is necessary.

The fee for examinations is $14.00. Checks and cash are accepted. If you fail the test and feel confident that you can pass on the second try... then you may request a retest for an additional $14.00. Only one retest is allowed per monthly test session.
MORSE CODE TESTING - Element 1
FCC HAS ELIMINATED
MORSE CODE TESTING a/o 2/23/07
The Morse code speed is 5 Words Per Minute. The
character speed is 15 WPM. The tone frequency is 720 Hz. Applicants
will listen to code with headphones. The applicant must
correctly answer 7 out of a 10
questions in the fill in the blank test or copy at least
25 Morse code characters in a
row to pass Element 1.
PCs, word processors, printing dots and dashes on the paper, and other
means of transcribing the code into written characters is not allowed
without prior arrangements with the Volunteer Examiner Coordinator
Liaison person. Further detailed instructions will be given to
the applicants at the test session.
