2026 Olympus RallyReady to put your amateur radio skills to the ultimate field test? Volunteers are gearing up to support communications at the upcoming Olympus Rally, and this is hands-down one of the most exciting events you can work as a ham operator.

Each year, the forests around Shelton transform into a high-speed rally battlefield. Drivers push their machines to the limit on narrow dirt, gravel, and muddy roads — and behind every flying car is a tight, disciplined communications network powered by volunteers like us.

This is real radio work. You’ll be positioned out on stage passing live safety and status traffic, working directed nets, and maintaining critical links between marshals, start/finish, and rally control. It’s fast, focused operating that sharpens your skills in ways the shack simply can’t.And let’s be honest — it’s a blast.

Picture this: you’re set up deep in the woods, headphones on, net running clean… and suddenly rally cars scream past your position at 80+ MPH, throwing rooster tails of dirt and gravel. The adrenaline is real, the radio work matters, and the experience is unforgettable.

Love portable ops? Bring your radios, power stations, and masts and build out a rock-solid simplex setup in the forest. Not required — but definitely part of the fun. A dependable mobile or handheld with a good antenna and solid net discipline is all you truly need to be effective.

Whether you run minimal or go full field-day mode, you’ll be making a difference. Olympus Rally is part of the American Rally Association series and relies heavily on amateur radio volunteers to keep the event safe and running smoothly. Operators of all experience levels are welcome — if you can follow a net and key a mic, we can use you.
