Field Day 2025
Field Day is Saturday June 28, 11AM to Sunday June 29 11AM. Setup begins Friday, 9:00AM at the clubhouse to load up, then to the site.
Radio Club of Tacoma heads back to the field this summer at our usual site: the southeastern portion of the Western State Hospital campus, directly across from Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood (map).
The setup
This year we'll take advantage four "rocket launchers" (AB-577 portable towers) to hoist monobanders for 20M (3-el), 15M (5-el), 10M (5-el), and 6M (5-el). Dipoles will be used for 40M and 80M. We'll operate 4A, with all stations capable of CW, SSB and digital modes.
Again this year we are led by Field Marshal Mike W7MKE. He has recruited station managers as follows:
- 80/15M Dan KD7SV
- 40M All N7OMS
- 20M Mike W7XTZ
- 10M Gary WG7X
All stations will operate from our 20x30-foot shelter beside a central fir tree. Here it is, at night, during 2023 Field Day.
Our kitchen, eating and gathering shelter will set up in the usual grove of smaller trees near the road. Camp chefs Paul W7PFU and Red WB7EC (and other helpers) will keep us well fed during the weekend. The Saturday evening meal is POT LUCK, with the club supplying grilled entries and soft drinks. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite pot luck contributions, especially salads and desserts!
